Tow lights wiring?

Where does the harness for trailer lights connect up to the harness on a 98 TJ?  -jenn

There is a plug inside the right-rear corner of the tub Jenn that is accessed from underneath, through that little fiber/cardboard cover. The plug is pulled apart and the trailer light's "T" connector is inserted between them.  Most 4x4, automotive, and Jeep dealers sell trailer wiring harnesses with the T connector that makes it a pretty painless installation.jbjeep wrote:

I just put one in a few months ago. You can buy ones that just plug in at pretty much anywhere. I got mine at a boat shop for under $20.

In the very back of the passenger's side there's a plastic cover that is held in by plastic plugs. Upon first inspection it didn't look like there was any access, but they pop out pretty easily, and you just unplug the brake lights plug and plug each end into the hitch wire. You'll probably want to have a few tie downs when you do it, because there isn't really any intuitive path to run the wire to the hitch. Just be sure to keep it away from the exhaust.
