What's this 360 worth?

I have a 76 CJ7 304 with Quadra-Trac, the original Instrument Cluster states "unleaded fuel only" between the temp gauge and the fuel gauge. Also checked the Owner's manual, it also states that unleaded fuel is to be used. Hope this helps.

I tracked down the info - The new head was bought at autozone. I researched the part number and found the supplier: MOORE'S CYLINDER HEAD I called them an one of their techs informed me that the heads they supply to autozone have hardened valve seats - since you can't buy leaded gas. The leaded gas provided lube for the valves in earlier engines. So at least the one new head on the engine has hardened valve seats....I'll have to assume the second head doesn't. A matching head is a $120 at autozone, but is a special order item...

I am in Canada and had a brand new car in 1976. They all ran on unleaded by then.

Not likely, but you know how much that answer's worth.

Unleaded gas began to show up *about* 1974. I think that was the first year for the catalytic converter on the Olds Cutlass. I had no problem buying leaded gas for my 1967 Ford Country Squire in Washington and Oregon in 1994. It may still be available out there, but it's not seen here in northern VA.

The label and the fuel line restrictor. Cats didn't come in until way later in Canada. No CJ needs a cat.

I think that you are mistaken, Bill. General Motors, for one, shipped all their new 1975 cars with cats to comply with the 1970 Clean Air Act and I don't imagine that AMC got special dispensation. See:

My 1975 Motor's auto manual gives a rather detailed description of catalytic converters. Just for giggles, the "detune" specs for California engines start in 1972.

Yup, I was talking utility vehicles, and pick ups, as when I bought my '78 Bronco, the one I looked at in Utah was made to run on regular leaded gas, but it didn't have FM stereo, so I bought California.
