Why no fuel effecient Jeep?

You will come to a point where the idle drops off 'real' fast and it starts to stumble. You then go back rich 1/4 turn and it will be stable with the slightest rumble in it. Back it off another 1/2 turn or more and it will purr but stink....

However, for mud and regular trails, as well as for pulling vehicles out of the mud, my little 4cyl has WAY more low-end torque then my '88 YJ had with the 258 I6. I've done stuff in the short time I've owned this CJ that my YJ could never have hoped to do. Maybe it's the gearing? Either way ...I'm happy with the 4 and will only swap over when she finally blows. And it seems I'll have replaced all my under-the-hood components before that time while I try and get it running again ;p
Unleaded gas and cats made their way up here (Canada) in about 1976-1977 depending on the size of the vehicle, a buddy has a 76 Aspen that came from the factory catsless and ran on leaded gas. They continued to sell regular gas here until the late 80's, my 1986 Hyundai Pony (never sold south of the border) ran on regular gas which at that time was about 10 to 13 cents/liter cheaper then unleaded.

Ah, ok ...ya that I would agree with for sure. I flat out refuse to buy any
4x4 with an auto. I don't see the point. Luckily for me I've got the 5spd tranny ...but even still ...any more than 100km/h and I might as well have a fuel truck driving beside me. It takes me like 20+ second to get up to that speed too ;p I pretty much never take it above 85-90km/h even on the highway ...mostly because I don't feel like I have ANY control over the Jeep what-so-ever at that speed. Train tracks at 90km/h are NOT COOL!
