130 Chassis Advice

Hi All,

Being new to my Landy, but not new to a socket set, I'm after a bit of advice.

The chassis on my 130 is sound, however one of the cross pieces is going. See:

If anyone could help with the following I'd be very grateful:

- What is the part called, and how much? I've bought from Paddocks before but if anyone here would like the business then fine!

- Can a sensible person change it? (I've already replaced the radiator and choke cable myself).

- Do I need to take the back tub off?

Any advice would be grand :)

Cheers,

Andrew

I think the part number is NRC4171 and is called 'crossmember, body' but I could be wrong and I've no idea of the price ( maybe Richard will tell you) though I can't see it being very expensive as it's only a top hat section with two flat plates welded in to mount it. You may be able to slide it out from one side if you support the body and possibly remove one of the small body side panels, or even cut it out and slide the new one in but I really don't know, never changed one. Maybe even cut the new one in the middle, slide it in from either side and weld together again in situ, there's probably an easier way than removing the rear body.

I don't think you are as I've just found it in a Britpart parts list - although it only says 90/110 - nobody ever mentions a 130 *sniff*

That was my thinking, nice to have it confirmed, thanks.

Cheers,

Andrew
