Time to consult the font of knowledge here. Has anyone experienced problems with the kick down on a 2002 TD5 auto Disco? Symptoms as follows:-
Speed just over 50 mph Kick down accelerator Gearbox changes down to 2nd gear, revs rise to about 4200. Gearbox then changes up to 3rd, then back to second. If throttle is held here, the gearbox keeps hunting between 2nd and third, and very little acceleration takes place. If I back off the throttle slightly, 3rd is selected and the vehicle will accelerate.
If the vehicle is travelling over 55 mph, then the kick down just drops it to 3rd, and there is no problem.
Haven't been able to duplicate it at lower speeds and getting the gearbox in to 1st to see if it will hunt between 1st and 2nd. Land Rover have changed the Turbo for some reason, and it seems better, though there is still some hesitation.
Any ideas what might have caused the initial problem?
