99RR4.6 Climate Control Warning

I got this 99RR 4.6 about 3 months ago. Recently it would flash the "warning" icon on the Climate Control panel and it would stay on. This happens intermittently; sometimes right when I start the truck, sometimes after I've driven it some, and sometimes not at all! The icon is the one that looks like an open book with a "!". The manual says to take it to the dealership.

Anyone here seen this before? What was your experience, and what should I be expecting? Is it serious enough that it needs immediate attention?

Thanks in advance!

I had this once on a 2.5 dse. I could not delete the fault with T4 so I had to take the dash apart to find the problem. Turned out to be the 3 adjuster motors that control everything. Sod of a job, took 8 hours and the motors cost about £210. Need anymore info mail me.

I had that on my 97 4.0 - turned out to be the A/C blower behind the dash- the motor was burning out and had to be replaced.

Take it to your repair shop and let them put it on the book for you. Also- do not run the A/C when the warning is on. If the warning is in fact due to a failing blower motor, there is a risk of melting your fuse box due to overheating of the relay.

Let someone with a diagnostic book give it look pretty quick.

Thanks Lee and Lobby for the quick and helpful replies. I didn't expect replies quite this quickly! I will take it to a Land Rover garage this weekend for a check up.

Thanks again!

Don´t let yourself get conned, reading out the faults using the tester "T4" takes 5 mins. I know, cos I work for LR.:-)

that is true- if they charge you to put the car on the book- find another repair shop.

It could be anything from the aircon coolant running low to a sensor fault to a jammed blend motor. A dealer, or someone equipped with testbook/rovacom will be able to report the cause for you. This is probably a lot better than trying to guess.
