Hi all, and Seasons Greetings from a long-time lurker!

Just replaced our Discovery with 300tdi auto version, which is great - except I thought I'd better check that the garage had freed up the very stiff transfer box gearchange lever which moved freely to the low position and back again to high but left the box in low.

Obviously, it will be up to the garage to sort this, so I'm not about to dig deep, but has anyone experienced anything similar, are there any tricks to persuade it to change, and how big a job is it likely to be? For instance, can you get at the selector mechanism from the top, or is it an engine/gearbox out job?

Thanks,

Alan.

Quite likely the clevis has split - quite common and a realtively easy fix - just awkward to get at.

Richard (and yes, I have nothing better to do on Christmas Day!)

You too, huh?

I've organised the booze and nibbles, and made a nice new lanyard for my nice new whistle[1]... now I'm sipping a dry(ish) sherry and finding out who else is online on christmas day :-)

have a look on the site at the bit about the meteor...

Ditto. I bought a lot of boxes and now I have stuck labels on them so in theory I'm sorting my workshop stuff out but my hearts not in it so I'm doodling on the computer.

My son is cooking dinner and talking about what he has seen Gordon Ramsey do on the TV, which is a trifle alarming, but I guess we will all eat sometime.

too much dinner/booze?

No, went out for a nice meal at a posh gaff yesterday & neither me or Jane feel right. Too much garlic i fear, coming round a bit now, but didn't sleep a wink last night.

Never mind!
