I've got one with a 110 wrapped around it...

'snot really for sale, though. Well, I'd sell it for the right money, but that's liable to be more than you want to pay for a 'box.

does come with a complete set of 110 axles and so on though, and indeed the rest of the 110 - early CSW, no rear seats at all, new front row seats, new swivel bearings just fitted and a shagged rear crossmember. New crossmember with long extensions would solve almost all the remaining chassis issues for to MOT it.

Oh, and it's gas-only, with a 2x35L in the back and a single 45L on one side

- it's running but not legal. Only needs the back end done...

's got a Rangie 3.5 flapper-type V8 in it, and I have the ECU and the AFM for it, but it doesn't have a petrol tank.

sitting on 15" 8-spokes with usable but non-legal tyres (cracked sidewalls due to laying around too long)

likesay, not really for sale as the plan was/is to finish refurbing it and put it on the road as my personal transport. But I'm short of time and shorter of money right now...

£1500 would convince me, and I could always buy another project motor later...

Oooooh, that's local(ish)...

If Sir would like to e-mither me with "ow much" for the lockable diff one, I'd be mucho grateful.

I've killed enough of the VC diff ones to make me wary of 'em.

Or call me on 07731 744088.

Spot it? I even bid on it...

Missed one this afternoon by 5 minutes. Arrgh. I bid £49 to see if I'd get shilled on it, then had to nip out. Got back home and it'd gone for £50....

With the sort of torque/bhp you wish it to transmit, you need a hybrid

4HP22/24 box or it will never last. You need a 4HP22 box built with 4HP24 internals, a heavy-duty sprag clutch and a 4HP24 stator plate, oil pump and "A" clutch. This gives you the higher torque capacity of the '24, but with the hydromechanical (non-electrical!) control of a 22. Unfortunately, you can't simply fit a mechanical valve block onto a 24! This does have a few drawbacks however -
  1. the 'box is 18mm longer than a '22, meaning the engine must go forward or the gearbox back, with the resultant propshaft or exhaust issues.
  2. you need a flywheel and torque convertor from an early GEMS 4.6 P38 rangie to match it to your engine. Badger.

Yes. I'm in Balham SW London.

The standard 4HP 22 in the Range Rover has a bodge to the torque convertor mounting and bellhousing which makes it much longer than necessary to fit the same space as the manual box. And by at least 18mm. If only it was easy to get a conventional length bellhousing...

Right then.... I can borrow an estate car to get to Londinium and back, so now's the question no-one as cheap as me likes to ask...

"How much?"

Oh, by the way... this chap is selling what appears to be the Sherpa ZF box you want...

Well I paid over 200 quid for them wanting only the auto for the SD1 - 'till I discovered it won't fit. They're from an average mileage vehicle and said to be working perfectly. Of course I can't say for sure whether this is so or not but I've no reason to think the seller was wrong.

If you want to take a chance on the condition with no comeback on me after any inspection you want I'll take less. However the gearbox could still be some use to me if I finally get the correct version as the internals will be the same - and a new overhaul kit will cost me more than the 200. ;-)

So I'm open to offers. ;-)

Ah. Thanks for that - my searches didn't come up with that one.

Well, I bid on the gearbox Derek pointed out earlier in the thread and, amazingly enough, I won it. Which is nice, so I appear to have managed to find one not too far away for a fiver. I'm somewhat amazed at my luck for once.

Thanks though, and thanks to the chap who rang me earlier, gave me a load of good advice about Range Rover gearboxes and also offered me to buy.

Now, where do I get the removal cradle from, should I get one of the ones on Ebay?

A true bargain if it's a good one.

I'm fairly desperate to get rid of the transfer box. I've simply no storage for it.

It's certainly a heavy lump all in one.

I *think* I want. There's a good pic and it looks suspiciously like the bellhousing is the same as the 4WD version. It would be sod's law if Rover used the same installation on the Sherpa etc with the exception of the tail housing. I'm going to take a pic of mine from the same angle and compare them. The spacer arrangement is over an inch so hopefully will show up in the pics if the bellhousing is the same.
