BeamEnds Stopping Mail Order From Friday

Hi All, as quite a lot of customers lurk here and to avoid (hopefully!) having to explian too many times, this just a note to say that from Friday we won't be doing mail-order any more.

The reason is that after analysing mail-order sales for the last year it has become apparent that we are supplying all the specialist bits others don't do, but not getting the bread-and-butter stuff, despite prices pretty much the same as, and quite often cheaper than, the competition. Guess where the money is!

Doing mail-order is very time consuming, as is preparing quotes (which we have found are being used to place orders with the competiton!!), and we will now be able to concentrate our efforts on the shop and repairs, which have grown in importance over the last year.

So, a heart-felt big thanks to all who have used us for mail-order over the last 3 years, and you are more than welcome to call in for your bits in future.

Obviously all outstanding orders will be completed!

The web site will be maintained as before to allow customers to place, and if they wish pay for, orders *for collection* only, a sort of Land Rover Parts Argos (without the crappy adverts).

Cheers Richard

Aargh! You mean I've got to deal with the local *shudder* MAIN DEALER! And in French! Buggrit. :)

Thanks for all the good help 'n' advice over the past year or so, Richard. Now, does anyone know the French for Condenser?

Disaster :-(((

Now I need to find someone else who:-

a) know what they are talking about b) is honest c) charges reasonable carriage costs d) a nice guy

But I understand why you are doing it.

Thanks for all the help!

Andrew

PS are my exhaust manifold bits on the way yet?

PPS Any recommendations for companies who meet my criteria above?

I am surprised you have stuck at it so long.

I supply LR parts for export etc. But going into mail order as you have said is just too much effort for too little reward.

Good luck with your redesigned venture.

The advice will still be there, though not in French!

Shame that Richard, you certainly helped me with a quick (and right price) delivery of a radiator. But business is business and I wish you well. ;)

If you're in Coventry/Warwickshire Douglass Motors in Wolston are very good....a family-run business, they're technically an all-makes 4x4 garage, but their bread and butter is anything Green Oval. Don't think they do mail order though...

Yes, I was born and brought up very close to Wolston, and have used them alot, now however I live in the NW Highlands, so a bit far now! hence the need for mail order.

Your more than welcome to ask for help - it keeps me on my toes!

Awaiting delivery from LR for a couple of the obscure bolts - they are on their way!

I can't really answer that one ;-)

oh bugger. I see the reasoning, though.

Nooooo.

Whilst I haven't ordered "lots" from you, alway found it much better talking to someone with a clue, which doesn't always feel to be the case at some of your competition.

I have frequented that most esteemed establishment upon occasion, and can confirm that they purvey diverse and sundry goods for the beneficance of our confraternity.

Whatever that means :)

is it not worth carrying on but adding a surcharge or something for mail orders? or maybe doing this for established customers or AFL referrals? ;) Or perhaps just accepting mail order for big orders (£100+ or similar)

You could add something like £2-£3 per order. £2 will buy you a pint, which is (in my opinion) the basic reward for putting yourself out for someone ;) So you could atleast have your pub visits paid for ;)

I thought he'd given up last March, when I last heard about the throttle cable I'd ordered the previous November, and that I'm still waiting for :-(

What ho, Paddock! Or even Shardlow Land Rovers - I actually managed to get a good price from them for a 300tdi belt tensioner, and they'd only be a couple of miles away if it wasn't for that damned river. Perhaps they sell snorkels...

Hi Richard:

I have never had the opportunity to do business with you, but i can sympathise with your position. I work in an industry that abuses its suppliers mercilessly :(.

Personally, I always buy from people I know & trust (if at all possible).

That little local jeweller in my town that has been there since 1937 and is so polite will always have my business ahead of Argos or anyone else - despite the price.

I would rather put money in the pocket of my friend than that of a total stranger.

You (I think) have made many, many friends on this NG, and mail-order or not, they will always beat a path to your door.

Me, I'm a simpleton, and the vagaries of your web-site and the "in-crowd" mnemonics of your web-site means I cannot decipher what part it is I should order (with confidence) lol.

I wish you well mate.

Dan.

Ooowwoooow.

Having only had a very brief period of ordering from you Richard I am very sorry that you are ceasing the M/O operation. I'm sure that others can better express how helpful and understanding you have been.
