ok, I've been on ebay after an injector pump, there were 2, one ended yesterday, one ended today. the one ending yesterday sold for £52 so I was fairly happy with my max bid on one today at £92. then in the last 2 minutes some bugger outbid me.
I hope it falls apart yabugger.

6.5 (now out-of-date, but nowhere near as out of date as my version 4) went to 82 quid this morning. Which looks silly as you can buy, from the states, including 48 bucks for "expedited" shipping, a brand new copy, sealed and unused, for about $98. which is about 53 quid. daft bastards were in a bidding frenzy.for about 70 bucks (plus shipping) I could've had version 7, but I was a tad leery of the company supplying same. Bearing in mind it's current release software, which Adobe sell for about $500, where do they get it that they can sell it for $49.99 ($20 surcharge for a CD) to download it.
the other lot are selling last years, prolly surplus stock, for $49.99, which is a bit more credible, and also appears to be new sealed boxes, so prolly legit.
Ive got that on CD here.
If you want, i can send you a backup of it...... just incase i loose mine.
Its the least i can do after the money you've saved me!

tut. not nice. besides, much more satisfying if not necessarily more reliable to do it manually. Estimate the time taken to send a bid from your machine to ebay, subtract same from finish time, add a few seconds for luck...

I had to snipe my last 10 buys on eBay. Sniping for hot items is typical.
think those CD Manuals selling on eBay are in violation of Land Rover copyrights?
my buddy wants to copy mine and sell copies at the local flea market but here in San Diego 'sue-happy' is the word.
I do manual sniping as well, it is fun but to be honest it doesn't do the heart rate that much good and when you have raised adrenalin your body is screaming to RUN AWAY but you just sit quitely in front of a computer screen...
At the end of the day highest (or earliest in the rare cases of equal winning bids(*)) wins so if someone is prepared to bid more than you then they are going to win.
(*) Which is why I never bid in round pounds or increments, it's always my "max" plus +5 to 10% of the relevant increment.

If you like shoot-em-up things, this is pretty damn good.
I increased my max a couple of times and the other bidder then increased theirs, by the time delay it was manually, so if I'd have sniped a £92 max in the last 5 seconds I'd have got it for around £60.

I was on eBay looking for a GS Mk6 kevlar helmet to replace the one I have - which is too small, so I'm selling it - and I had the high bid. Towards the end of the auction I started refreshing to make sure I wasn't outbid.
Eight seconds remaining; I decided to up my bid. So I did, but just missed it... and literally within the last second some bastard - presumably with one of those auto-bid bots - outbid me. AAAAARRGHH!
Good helmet, too. My size, with covers, and only £18...

That's because you were sniped. With the best will in the world, you are here and the Ebay servers are in the states, so you can't really bid fast enough, taking into account the lag between here and there. I use Esnipe.com which is in the US and places bids within 6 seconds of the auction end. Always bid a maximum ending in an odd amount, ie:
