Cars, insurances, taxes etc.

Finland isn´t a taxpayers heaven, we pay taxes on eveything. I´ve been thinking of is it so in every country...

How much does a 1990 Land Rover Discovery 2.5 Tdi 5d (370.000 km ) cost in other countries? In finland it´s about 12000 €

How much are insuraces ?

And does your country have tax on diesel fuel and you must also pay a diesel tax? in finland the tax on fuel is about 75% in diesel and petrol, and a diesel car owner is rewarded also with 25.40€ per every starting 100kg ( passenger cars)..

Luckily our european union membership gave us little hope on car taxes, now it it´s possible for us to go to other countries to buy a car and pay less taxes... It has started a boom to Germany ( Disco cost there about 5000€, it isn´t fair, and the tax when I bring it to Finland is about 3000-5000 €+ expenses, so it isn´t much cheaper but couple of thousand € less...)

The disco that I was about to buy was at a car dealer, he told me who´s old car it was, and I knew that he was from the same club as I and I called him and asked facts considering the car. The car is in good shape, but it might not be the one that I´m looking for, my daily car usage is about 250 km, so the car would be fully driven in about 2 years...

But no worries, I have the approval from my Wife and I will buy a Land Rover, but it might take little more time.

And car insurance for a Disco that old is approximately 600€ , and the diesel tax is 680€ per year..

ps. I started my Rangie today, it was about 7celsius below zero, no problem exept the batteries were empty, but with a little help from a friend I got it running.. I must buy new batteries, it was too embarrasing...
