How to replace light bulbs of lighting system of the VDO speed meter??

Sounds drastic, but its not. Remove the dash panal!
There are 4 screws holding the whole bit to the panal. Remove these and the whole thing comes away (including the heater controls on both sides.) Slide it out enough and the bulbs fit into the back of the speedo.
