FFS, mates LR down, driver OK

Evening all

A mates son has has a mishap in his SWB SIII. Son is fine, pride a little dented but not half as bad as the LR, it had a heavy front and nearside thump and is not a happy bunny.

Son is living in Sheffield, Dad just got it through MoT as well, a bit of welding summed much of that up a few weeks back. Front chassis legs are trash, propshaft bent (not been able to check gearbox yet but it doesn't look good), nearside front spring snapped, front wing became quite intimate with nearside door, big ripple down bodywork and roof, bulkhead has some new curves, footwell looks like a flat cap. Bonnet is scrap.

Most of the other work looks like it will straighten out with both sizes of hammer, we don't think the chassis is bent but if anyone has a scrapper sitting around that might prove useful for donor section parts we would be grateful. Things like radiator (and fan, they are now one item), heater fan, nearside wing, nearside door skin (although that should plate over), alpine light, rad panel, front spring or springs, shock absorber.

We already have a spare bonnet and may have the wing sorted. A front chassis section would be useful to replace the curvy bits we are left with.

Feel really sorry for them both, all the new bits such as track rods ends and shock absorber are trashed, it's almost as if someone Godlike just took a swipe at it and picked out the new bits intentionally. Bill had a song and dance with the "recovery" agency. Not a garage, just a means to relieve you of several hundreds of pounds to collect your own property. Insurance is TPFT as Chris is young enough for Fully Comp to cost more than the SWB is worth.

Big relief that all are OK though. S*it happens. I'm able to collect most stuff around Yorkshire area and get it to Harrogate but would travel farther afield for essentials. Pretty sure that means to pay are limited on this one but eternal grattitude etc.

All the Fest

I feel for them all.... It did my nut in when i damaged my old one....

We should have a fix it weekend :)
