My Golf is dead.... Its a company one, so its not that bad...
Driving though a flood this morning on the way to work, nothing deep.
Some Computer User with No Training was steaming though it coming the other way in a white transit, which caused a wave to crash into the front of my golf, which consequently died.
Ive not tried to start it, but it sounded detrimental when it stopped.
Bastard. Tried to get his plate, but with no joy. How pissed am i?

Petrol or Diesel? petrol it might have got into the cylinders, if so, take out all the plugs & crank, then get it serviced. Diesel, could be VERY expensive. Could juts be electrical etc.

Does sound like a good argument to get a LR product as a replacement though... ten out of ten for initiative :-)

Not too bad at all! Keeps plodding along. Teething issues hopefully put to bed now. Put my roof rack on and I'm now exploring importing some fribreglass grill from the US to make a deck. UK prices are just plain nuts at the mo. The freight costs may kill the concept though so time will tell.
Just been out in him. Only current issue is the battery doesn't seem to last if parked up for a week or so. I'll no doubt bung a new one on shortly. In the meantime I've treated him to one of those Maplins Solar pannel chargers just to keep him on top.
I've fabricated a Dog guard... and shortly will have built internal security grills come cage and a rear inner cage door so when we go caravanning the dogs can have the door open but cage door shut.. Or side windows open without fear of them doing one. It's got to be the most useful vehicle I've ever owned!
Roof liner has been reglued up. Not concourse but it's no longer like a tent either.
Must get around to fitting that bonnet cable.

quite likely that it sucked in water - there's a stupid tendency on cars these days to put the air intake about 6" from the ground behind the front bumper. Buggered if I can see why.
on a diesel, that can be terminal.

Right.
Its been into VW all day, and they have just reported that it needs a new short engine....
£2700
Joy. Bend over, Pants down time.
Its a 53 plate GTTDI, with 90K on it.. Surely its not worth much more than that is it?

probably a bit more. Presumably, since it's a company one, it's a leased job?
To be fair VW's tend to hold their price well.... at least they did last time I was looking to purchase one.

Work actually own all their cars, so its owned by the company. I get the option to purchase it from them once it finished with, so i probably could get it as it is now, and get it fixed elsewhere, ie not main dealer.
There are a few engines on ebay for £700ish...
Anyone fancy a project?

minus the first 7 miles of the day (or so) in my case i believe.
I love working at a far away site once a week - pays my whole fuel bill for the week! :)
