Fuel Filter Changing on a 300Tdi

On or around Tue, 18 May 2004 08:52:50 +0100, Tim Hobbs enlightened us thusly:

heh.

the new toy looks as though it could do with an oil change. book say 15W40 or 15W50, I suppose this is about it being newer, though I bet the engine is essentially the same as the old ones.

booked a gearbox and transfer box oil change on thursday morning; CBA to mess with those.

discovered why the red brake warning light was on when it ran out of fluid for one of the brake circuits this morning. takes a lot of stopping with just 2 pistons on each front caliper.

seems as though the pressure reducing valve on the rear brake line is leaking slightly, so will have to order one up and keep an eye on the fluid meanwhile.

I change mine using a small plastic box which fits over the oil filter. Just put it under the oil filter and unscrew the filter. Most oil will fall into the box. Problem solved. Other sollution is to puncture the oil filter with a spike or something else which is sharp. Just keep a empty bottle in place with the top cut off to catch the oil.

Kind regards,

Benno
