G-WAC

No... indeed it may be found on many other vehicles too. Anything with the extension *AC is normally registered at the solihull local DVLA (as it was then) so you get PAC's MAC's and WAC's most notably.

It just so happens that many of the early Discos were released on G plates registered at Solihull as was the Rangie you have seen.

They hold little other value other than being Solihull registered Landrovers. I had 1983 Rangie that was registered by Landrover. Sales reps will often latch onto this and give some c*ck and bull pampered by Landrover story, like they would know!

Many of the early G WAC discos have gone by the way side because of Cherrished transfers. So some early previously G WAC's are now technically hidden from those who's desire burns to own one. I've transfered cherrished numbers several times and It's only when I bung in a post-it note request with my application I get the previous number back. This is usually beacause I still have the old plates to put on or the windows have been etched. A bit of useless info but there you go :-)

Our current Rangie was also sold to us as a local vehicle due to it's reg prior to the one it has on now. Load of Bull as it was origionally registered Miles away. Makes little difference regardless unless it's registered to a local salt mine. Hpi revealed all the previous VRM's

AIUI (some) of the G-WAC discos were press pre-launch vehicles and late prototypes and such. I dunno if they all were, and I daresay someone has a list of the relevant numbers.

The equivalent Range Rovers are YVB-H IIRC, although I think there're one or two with other numbers.

No not all. I am a member of the Discovery Owners Club and our secretary has a very extensive list. We have a number of G-WACSs in the club, some are press, some were managers vehicles and some were early sales models.
