My sat nav did something similar last week with a car full of people and someone following, took us up a tiny tarmaced lane for about a mile and then told me to drive up a narrow muddy bridleway, in a BMW 330i, yeh right. I wouldn't even take the 90 up there! In all the years I've had a Sat Nav I've never had that happen before, I thought these things were supposed to improve?

that is great!

Were were discussing this the other day as the tomtom took us up some dodgy lanes in the lake district - Though even checking on the proper paper map they were no differently marked than the less dodgy 'main lanes' we had been going on previously which must have been why it chose them.

It wasn't the satnavishness of the story that interested me - it was the utterly stuckness of the van, and then the recovery truck, and ... Well, I've been in muddier places than that (and been pulled out, yes thanks, remember that too ...)

The sign "Unsuitable for motor vehicles" would have started alarm bells ringing for me if I was in anything other than a 4x4
