Imminent shopping schemes

I may have mentioned my planned Land Rover project - the 110 WMIK "near-enough" copy - once or twice, but now I'm heading for actually getting started.

So, the question is where to get it and how much to pay for it.

First question: Ex-MoD Land Rover 110, LHD, soft top, mechanically sound, clean (in terms of mud, muck and stuff) and generally holding together. It'll get dented anyway, so I'm not much bothered about the tin round the edges. How much should I expect to pay for one?

Second question: Where should I hunt for it? Witham's is already on my list, any other good dealers I should contact?

Budget's important as well, so wherever I can get a sound one cheapest (and ideally close to SW Scotland) is where I'll aim for.

Oh, and third question: How much should a decent turbo diesel set me back, and what are the pros and cons with each model? I recall reading that some of them were unreliable, but I can't remember which ones...

Sorry to follow up to my own post, but I noticed that this needed clarification... a turbo diesel *engine*, to replace the NA in the ex-MoD.

Best thing is to find a Disco 1 and transplant the 200 Tdi engine from that, lots of them about now and a much better engine than Turbo D or N.A. IMHO.

Martin.
