Is it just me....

..or after a long drive do others loose the perception of what is verticle / flat compared to slight and in extreme cases effing big hills?

I noticed this a couple of years back in the RR with a VM engine after a long drive with the caravan on. My perception was we wee driving on the flat and I thought I had a flat which would have accounted for the loss of power and apparent lack of zest.

Transpired is was an eff off hill.... samw this weekend in the 110 TD. Long drive. Some massive hills and others that were considerable did't even register but had me wondering why I was only managing 40 mph on the inside lane of the motorway.

Can't just be me surely?

Then again in Wales in the Disco - again with caravan the Brake fade promptly reminded me exactly how steep a few hills were!

There's a number of roads throughout the world on which this is particularly bad, to the extent that people think they're on the flat but in reality they're going downhill or uphill, and in many cases they've turned into a tourist attraction.

I've got the following note on one in Britain I'll have to visit sometime;

-------------------- Electric Brae, on A719 9 miles south of Ayr, 13 miles north of Girvan, road crosses side of deep valley and slopes upwards while appearing to slope downwards towards a stream

--------------------

So no, certainly not you, and I've also had the same issue when I'm in the pinz or landy and suddenly it slows down a bit, and I think "looks like it's finally going to break down", only to notice the incline I'm climbing!

On a similar note, there's nothing like riding a well-laden touring bike for being aware of a road going uphill ;-)

Cheers,

AC.

the M42 always seems to be uphill whichever way you drive it!
