Well, *someone* here was posting about a modified M3 but didn't get very far. Probably because there wasn't any mention of STDs.

We fell asleep when you mentioned the A8

Oh, sorry, I dropped off again ;-)

Hardly.

Seriously, what's happened to this group recently?

It's become tedious and over-run with s**te like the above posts I mentioned above.

Boring... needless given there are other more on-topic groups we're all aware of, and bloody irritating after a while.

Maybe you're happy that it's become a shadow of its former self, but I'd rather it regained its focus sooner rather than later?

No doubt it came in a soft touch, sponsored by kleenex, bag...

Humm... still want me to pop over at some stage this week?

I love E36 M3s, ever since a guy I know from school took my out in his. It was a soft top one, in like, dark purple - and it went like f*ck. We were only 19, yet he had that. But the police DID find 12 grand in cash in his house when they went there for drugs related reasons...

Oh! And I'm still waiting for Jpegs of the RX7s as well!

I trust your next crusade is to get UKRM back 'on topic', too....

I mean, seriously, when was the group ever *just* about moddding cars?

There have been some sporadic posts, including stuff along the lines of fitting neons to Chavaliers, but it has always been closer to the UKRM philosophy than many other groups.

Oops. I'll see if I've got some - I didn't take that many of the twin-turbo...

I found this one a little Jekyll & Hyde - it's a nice, decent E36 until you go past 5k on the rev counter and then it turns into a proper sports car. Guess that's why it's not as tiring to drive as the FD - that one is in your face pretty much all the time and it does only come together once you're giving it 7/10ths or more. And that's *not* what you want to do on a public road...

Guess he shoulda listened to Tony Soprano re stashing da cash...

This would have been better posted to alt.gay.southern.shandy.drinking.poofs where your sort are tolerated ;-)

It's a group about modded cars, not some kind of social networking forum :-P

Do you need it spelt out for you... again, or are you just going to mend the error of your ways, Mr Partridge.

I've been considering doing some mods lately to be honest. I wasn't gonna post, as I'd just get the usual chav/pikey/ripspeed comments etc, but what the hey :-)

I was thinking about adding a K-Tec exhaust and sports cat, along with an ITG Maxogen induction kit and then topping it off with a remap from RS Tuning - generic map then tweaked 'live' on the rollers so it's specific to my car/mods. One guy on the forum has before and after printouts, and the peak gains aren't that impressive, 8bhp & 10lbs/ft or something - but low down the change was much more impressive, a gain of 40lbs/ft at one point! A higher, smoother torque curve all the way through, and peaking a little higher as a bonus. He said it transformed the way the car drove.

The K-tec and ITG were developed by K-tec on their rollers on their stock

197, and as such have proven before and after advtanges, add to that the remap, and the sports cat and the estimated gains for each one togehter totals over 20bhp peak. I'd be happy with 15 to be honest, so the exhaust/induction/cat would only have to muster about 6/7bhp all added together - which shouldn't be too hard for them :-) Hopefully the combination of them won't be too noisy... I'd be able to have a look/listen at their demo 197 myself anyway, which has all these bits fitted and is supposed to be good for 220bhp or so.

Also another thing is that, a lot of 197s rollers with a good few miles on them are showing higher than the quoted power output - showing over 200bhp - so I'd quite like to get it rollered anyway just to see what it's making, as it does feel stronger than the low miles Cup I test drove, or the low miles normal 197 I test drove a few months ago.

So there, that's something I was mulling about :-)

If it makes you feel better I picked up a set of rear wishbone bushes from the Cupra to replace the stock and crap void bushes that came on the car, they go with the bigger rotors and callipers from an Audi, the Cupra intake, remap, rear ARB, decat resonated exhaust, DVD/MP3/Bluetooth double Din head unit and all the little bits I've done to the car over the last 2 years.

But why bother posting about it here when we can take the piss out of Alfas and C6s.

Do you think we would do that? It's not like you drive a little french shopping cart with "race" stickers down the doors.

Last time we spoke, when I tested that remapped PD160 Cupra Ibiza - you said yours was still fast enough unmapped? Saw the light :-p? What was the result? I'm told that the one I drove was 204bhp on the rollers a month later... It didn't have any suspension or breaking mods at the time, but it now has big brakes, from an Audi heh! And it's on fully adjustable coilovers I beleive, set up by a local motorsport specialist.

I thought yours was a Cupra? And the Cupra, 160PD intake is the one to have? Or do you have a bigger Cupra intake on there?

A little over 160 at the wheels

I only have the FR, so the Cupra intake is bigger, not entirely sure if it makes much if any difference but it was about £12 at the time (now just under £40 as just about everyone with a 1.9Tdi on the platform wants them).

The big problem is having driven it my father got his remapped, so I'm thinking a TurboTechnics special maybe on the cards (I'm only about £2000 short if you include my debt), not that I think a FWD hatch will be able to put down that much torque without stripping all the tread from the tyres.

When in Rome. :-P

But to be fair you have something that's crying out for modding etc.

That's what we've done to mine... although the map was the only mod on it when we started tweaking it again.

You can get away with more in this respect with something turbo... as you probably already knew.

Sounds like he wants a TDI ;-)

I'll try and find out what ECU they fitted recently down the unit to a Clio Cup (full on track version, that is), was, and whether or not it's useable on a road spec car.

I believe they got quite big gains out of it anyway, given it's an NA.

Supposedly the same thing happens with VAG TDIs.

You might as well go for it. :)
