Jerry Cans at Aldi for a tenner

Just thought I'd let you know in case people want them, I've got loads, but you see them around at such expensive prices or only cheap via mail order that £10.69 for a 20-litre can (technically illegal for fuel IIRC) isn't bad.

.. or is that only petrol, legal for diesel?

Good price but don't rush out yet the offer doesn't start until Thurs

22nd...

I may well take a small diversion on Thursday to see what the quality is= like. Or local garage normally has them for just over =A315 but they are= good ones.

Surprised there is no matching spout on offer, trying to pour from a ful= l jerry can can be "interesting". Glug, splosh, glug, splosh...

For petrol yes, 10l max metal, 5l max plastic, but the rules aren't all =

that simple. These rules do not apply to diesel, except for carriage, I =

think...

The lead fireman that lives next door , told me a few years back it was illegal to store more than TWO cans of petrol and NOT MORE THAN 2 gallons in metal containers without a licence

Diesel there's no limit so he says

Still I don't have a problem but our friendly farmer does , with TowRags that want their deisel for nowt.

Yes I forgot about that myself! Went there for something else on offer and was most confused when it wasn't there..

When I got the pinzgauer it came with the best type of jerry can spout ever, the ones with the 8" long, wide air pipe that extends right into the top corner of the can on the opposite side to the spout, I can empty a whole can into the pinz in seconds rather than glugging away for ages with a normal cheapo spout.

If only it were that simple. You can store up to 275l in 10l metal containers (with vapour seals etc) but that has to be away from flammable materials and >6m from a building without a licence. Sometimes the fuel in vehicle tanks is counted sometimes it isn't...

Inside a normal domestic garage (ie. in a building and with flammable materials nearby) the limit is 2 x 10l metal containers. At least that is how I remember interpreting the rules. See the link I posted earlier.

Jeez, I'd want some fuel in it for that price, I've chucked loads of them away, damn nuisance under the feet.

I got a load of them ages ago for less than a fiver each from a landy dealer, they were awash with them too, it's always surprising how expensive they are in the shops but only because they're so cheap second-hand.

Absolutely, I just got fed up of tripping over them so anyone who showed an interest got presented. :-)
