Where to buy a Land Rover 109" or 110..... in the UK

Good morning everyone...

I am a visiting student from the USA... currently attending courses in The Netherlands. Upon my return to the States this summer i would like to take with me a Land Rover Defender. Now with a bit of research and quite a few questions... i have quickly come to realize that this is virtually impossible unless the car is 25 years old....

So my question is... what are some good adverts, websites, etc... to look for a old 109" or early 1984 110? I know of the Rover Magazines.... LRO... etc...

Thank you

Sincerely

Pim

Be warned most LRs offered for sale are likely to be RHD, certainly in the UK.

But I think the OP wants a LHD to take back to Obamaland

That's right, what he said, RHD, they drive on the right. :-)

Ohhh.... the intelligence keeps radiating from the old continent. Gentlemen, first of i would like to thank those who actually responded to my question. On a second note, for those who find belittling fun, seriously guys RHD, did you not think i knew that! Common guys i have lived in Europe for well over thirteen years during the duration of twenty four years of my life! I grew up loving land rovers and this is how you repay me? RHD drive...

Obamaland... OP... seriously, simply question was posted and you failed to contribute... why say anything at all unless its on topic? Does it make you feel relevant in a world which has declared you irrelevant?

In all gentlemen i am fairly disappointed in your behavior (my apologies to those who responded to my question), and i sincerely hope it does not reflect your society, as undoubtedly if it does there will be rough roads ahead!

Blimey, a yank who takes himself too seriously, who'd have thought!

And you'd have thought, having spent half his life this side of the pond, he would have picked up some sense of humour as well.

I didn't realise folks lost their sense of humour when they left the old continent, my apologies also. :-)

Seriously though, if you really want to ship something out, Ebay or post an address, someone might be kind enough to post you a current copy of our Autotrader to look through.

I was going to suggest he phones his nearest landy specialist in the US and gets some advice on what to avoid buying as there's bound to be some things that just don't work well in the US due to spares or regulatory issues, but I don't think I will now!

There's a healthy Land Rover community in the Netherlands. Try asking them. Their steering wheels will be on a side to suit you. Here's somewhere to start:

We know nothing about what can be legally imported into and/or used in the US. You seem to suggest that if it's over 25 years old that there are fewer problems - care to expand on this?

If you want coil springs and over 25 years old you are correct in thinking that an early 110 is about your only option. Otherwise it's an

88 or 109 with leaf springs.

Or an early Range Rover.

... Except that the OP seems to want a 'Defender' by which I'm assuming anything of that general shape will do.

..or 109

Now I just happen to know of a mint condition 1967 109 SW with genuine mileage from new of about 10k. It has kept all of its life in a hangar, for the greater part air conditioned. It has been regularly serviced to the highest standard. It has parabolics on the rear otherwise its virtually original. Colour is white. I think the owner could be persuaded to part with it for about $12k (American that is) Canadian would naturally be a bit more. I don't think they would be interested in Australian what with the Ashes coming up next year.

Well last week it was 8kBP but every time you slag off the pound it goes up a grand.

The vehicle is in Stafford protected by an armed guard.
