LRO Show

ISTR that one of the Land Rover shows in this country charges more for entry to non LR vehicles. Is it the LRO one? I'm hoping to get up there for one of the two days to check out alternative seating and all things Land Rover but the missus wants to know how much it will cost to get in.

No , I will not be taking the Niva, I'd probably come back to find it torched :-).

LRO subscribers adult £7 others £8 Child/OAP subscribers £4 others £4.50 Family ticket subscribers £19 others £20

These prices are as printed in the LRO magazine for single day tickets.

What wasn't clear to me was the parking available to non campers, am I right to assume there is parking? Do you have to pay for parking outside and then pay the above fees to get into the show?

I haven't been to the showground since sometime in the early eighties when I went to a BMF event, so I can't really remember whats there.

Free parking and above fees to get in, definately for tickets in advance. I guessing that the pedestrian fees are the same on the day though.

We went to the BMF a few years ago. It seemed like there was an endless sea of motorbikes. We keep saying we'll get to another one sometime as there are some bits Bruce wants for the Bultaco and for the Suzuki.

I had a peek at the LRO website earlier and there was a link to order advanced day tickets at the prices you mentioned. Just went back to the same site to order the tickets and it's now pay on the door, bet I'll have to pay more now. Bugger :-(

I rang the booking crowd up earlier - they've "run out of tickets, sir", apparently.

Llandrovers!

Old Sodbury charges about £10 a pitch for LR vehicles, but about £60 for non LR to discourage traders

Ah, that was probably the one I was thinking of. I just wanted to know if I had to budget for any extra's above the entrance fee as we'll be arriving in an Astra.

Ta.

I've just got off the phone with LRO and they are charging £9 per person Adults and Children 3-13 are £5 with under 3's going free.

14 year olds are classed as adults.

What a way to attract the family to a show.

Yeah, I agree. The prices some places charge for kids is ridiculous, we've reached the point now where we can't get away with saying my youngest is under 3 anymore. Only just got away with it at the sealife centre in Hunstanton on the last bank holiday Monday.

Is there much for kids to do at the show, play areas or the like? I doubt very much that they will last the whole day without some relief.

There's a Fun Fair there, I think

I know there's a funfair there. When we went to the BMF show there a few years ago, they had a creche for children under a certain age. It was son nice to be able to walk round without having to wonder where Danielle had got too. Jessica and Joanne were confined to a pushchair each. You couldn't leave them all day of course, an hour max I think it was, but you could take them back for a further hour provided you had a gap of a couple of hours. The only downside to it was that the pushchairs were quite handy with the basket underneath for putting smaller items in.

5 minutes from the Showground is Ferry Meadows, a nice and peaceful place, with the Nene Valley Railway running through it to Wansford where they filmed "Oh Dr Beeching" There is quite a nice collection of steam trains there too. Peterborough city centre is only a 10 minute bus ride away too....

I didn't actually take them over to it because I hate them, but I believe that it was cheaper than the one that ARRIVES EVERY YEAR AT SPRING HALF TERM FOR NEARLY TWO WEEKS, and sets up on the park opposite my house. It starts at 6 every evening and is open 9pm during the week and 10pm Friday and Saturday, with the added bonus of opening at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. If they could play some decent music it wouldn't be so bad, but that stupid Ketchup Song gets on your nerves after a bit as do the idiots who park over the entrance to our drive.

That's handy to know. The town centre is nice too although it is several years since I went.

I stopped off at the Nene valley railway only two weeks ago on my way back from Witham SV, We'd been to see what you can get for your money up there. Stopped off with my son to have our lunch and look at Thomas the tank engine. He's learnt to read since our last visit and didn't believe it was Thomas this time though as he could read the name plate on the side of the engine.
