murder

I think I could easily murder the previos user as against owner of my series

3 for the crimes he has commited against it.

Underneath the dashboard and leading all over the place is a rats nest of dogy wiring which I doubt bears any relationship to a legitimate wiring diagram. Something for me to sort out when I have a long day to do it in. I will have to take all the trim off to sort out where it all comes from and is going, there are two mysterios switches and an indicator light, and wiring that leads all the way to the back, probably related to towing. Oh for a well lit garage to work in.

Apart from that one of the rear windows seems to be held in by nothing more than builders putty and whatever it is that is supposed to be keeping the rust off underneath is flaking off in large chunks. I guess I need to clean as much of that off with a pressure hose as possible to see what might be going on underneath it all. I think I would put more faith in a tin of hammerite than all that oily gunk that just allows rust to work on underneath it

Oh well will be worth it in the end I hope.

And this - if ever there was one, is the unwritten and oft chanted mantra of the Marque... Stick with it - it _is_ worth it, but getting there, as you'll now be aware, can be somewhat frustrating :-)

One I hope to fully appreciate soon. It's had new bushes, suspension, brake system, cross-member, screen, head gasket, and on the way back !! from the M.O.T. it overheated, diagnosed as a rotten radiator core, so now a new one of those! And this was after the dizzy had to be repaired, by being taken back to lucas and reworked from a parts bin, and I'd replaced the alternator, coil, and battery. SWMBO loves it as well, otherwise I'd be back in a tincan by now :0)

We've all been there :)

I was thinking, and after the last 2 years, pretty much the only 'original' bits on my landy are 80% of the chassis and bulkhead, 2 wings, 1 door bottom, 1 axle casing+diff, 1 prop (minus UJ's) and the steering bits. Its not broken down for almost 2 weeks now...

Its like that sweeping brush thats had 5 new shafts and 7 new heads but its still the same brush.

mmmm, sounds very familiar. we also have two mysterious switches not on the standard console of the s3. one of the switches has a label below it reading "we promote responsible driving." i have no idea were this came from, who put it there, why they put it there, and what the frig the switch does. i have flicked it a couple of times and waited for the roof to fold down, or seat to eject or something cool, but nothing. just the agonising wait, hoping the switch doesn't do something real bad like send coolant into the cylinders.

Welcome to my world After much fiddling, swapping and 'just for now' rigging, with a 40yo wiring loom (with modifications) I've started to rewire the whole thing. You may find these useful

Simple wiring diagram.
