Unfortunately Ford have a habit of turning Concepts into Reality :( so we may be stuck with it

Ford should sell the rights to Land Rover Defenders to somebody who will carry on the tradition leaving Ford to carry on with the Luxury end because after all that's all they wanted was Range Rover .

Anybody Fancy a whip round Austin will still have that link to the V8 Engine production line. :D . We could even start building 101's mmm more members for Martyn. LOL

Well I reckon so. The club remanufactures the few bits which are really hard to get (like RH ball joints and fuel tanks) so it should be feasible for anyone daft enough to tool up to do it. The body panels are not exactly hard to manufacture, either.

I guess I'd opt for non welded balls (fna) if I were going to 'remake' the 101, though ;-)

That's not going to happen, however, the following may start to reassure some of you dedicated Series and Defender lovers:

(Refering to the current Defender) "(there is) significant global market potential for a basic no frills model utilizing proven components".

I can't quote the source, but is is recent (Sept 2003) and from within a department which has some weight. My guess is that this means minimal electrics, basic trim and absolutely none of the luxury extras

They, LR, have said they will not be producing the Stormer, it's a Show Vehicle. I've heard the real thing will be 4/5 doors not 3 and may not now be called Stormer ( due to the bad vibes about the name?) so RR Sport or RR Super Sport are still on the cards. Oh, and yes, it is to take on the Cayenne and the X5, that's what it's all about, road biased handling above all.
