New Range Stormer Concept

It was interesting to speak to a an 'expert' in Wales who had been asked by LR to try the so called soft roaders against current 'proper' 4x4s in and around his play area by Solihull. Not alot of complimentary words were said around the camp fire that night....only thing that didn't get stuck was his RR Classic and it ended up pulling the others out.

BLMC / Rover / Land Rover mantra has always been to use tested parts. They know which bits don't break as they tend to have a few warehouses full of them - so rather than waiting to sell them, they design them into new medels. Sad but true.

If anyone really wanted to make megaquids, they'd buy the rights to the Llama, as there's more potential to sell a 'Land Rover Commercial' globally than there is a Defender, IMO and all that, head down...

The 101 would never have been suitable for civvy use as the cab is just too small. Land Rover knew there was space in the market for a vehicle like the Llama but various factors meant that this was never put into production. There is only one 'road legal' Llama in existence

I believe Phil at Dunsfold has the complete design specifications and production drawings (and half a dozen or so other Llama prototypes).

What info is there on the Llama Martyn ? I have seen a picture, but it doesn't look anything like a 101.

When Ford took over Land Rover they specifically extended their rights to everything to do with the Llama. Dunno why, as they didn't (initially) do so for the 101. This may just have been an oversight in their Patents and Copyright Department - bloody unusual though.

I still reckon the 110 chassis has potential as a FC. I beleive there have been some 110 FC made by the SV people.

most of the stuff you need is available from stock, too.

Mind, a 90 FC would make a handy little truck, with about the loadspace of a

mebbe I should have a go at making one. The pictures of the 88" FC prototype looked quite fun, and it'd be more stable on 90/110 axles, too, being as they're wider.

I suppose ideally you'd want a 90 chassis combined with 110 axles and HCPU suspension, or summat.

Hmm. Looks like you could do the job by fitting a cab from a Leyland Roadrunner to the front of a 101.

Yeah, but I'm buggered if I can find them...

I've seen a couple of fine conversions (not sure if they were SV). It can work extremely well, especially as you end up with the best of both vehicles - including elevated drive height.

Most of the stuff you need is available from scrappies :-)

There's an 80" FC somewhere, built specifically for use in a vineyard I think.
