But there are more issues with fire than a drill!!!! Including poisonoius smoke & severe fire risk issues for the less 'adept' of us!!!

I did my old 300 tdi disco ones. Use a drill but it'll have to be a quality bit or you'll snap them real quick. Put gentle side ways movement on it to saw the rubber out. Then, get a hammer and chisel and gently tap around the edge of the remaining shell. It'll soon pop out with plenty of WD 40.

Don't bother with a press, a good vice will press the new ones in with copper slip on them. Make sure you have some old sockets or something as spacers. Use a big washer between the vice and the bush to get an even pressure across the thing to push it in. Keep checking with every turn to make sure it goes in square. Take your time, it'll pay off.

If done out in the open and avoiding resting the links on an open petrol can the risks are minimal. If I didn't know better I'd think that you doing a passable impression of a government minister - give them more of the nanny state!

Yeah, polybushing it slowley! I am fitting the 10 radius/link ones over the next few evenings. I haddnt thought of drilling the rubber. Ill give it a go tomorrow.
