Re: What do you use your Landrover for??

I use my 1969 Series 2A/3 as my day to day run-about. Everything from dropping the kids at school to doing the supermarket run to visiting customers to throwing it at the scenery off-road.

Cheers Gary

My husband has put on his will that he ultimately wants his coffin transported to the cemetary in a series 2a - he has been telling people for years - I,ve just got to pass my driving test now just in case!!Got a Rover

214 til I pass my test (unfortunately) but the first thing that I am doing when I pass is getting a series SWB because Tim is so fed up with modern car engines - he is fixing the head gasket on the car at the mo.

Interesting you say this. A friend has a Peugeot diesel around 10 years old with a blown head gasket. It's a write-off, as the cheapest quote he's had is 500+. It's so inaccessible and you even need to select the correct thickness gasket as it's 20:1 or higher compression, and the gasket thickness has to match the individual engine. No task (apart from timing belt setup) is especially hard, just very, very time consuming.

My landy may be old with rusty doors, but most things are easy to fix.

Seems us Africans and Landrovers go hand in glove ;-)

Where you find one, you generally find the other.
