Remember the 110 with electrical fault

Well you may remember the friends 1983 110 2.5d kept running when turned off with the ignition light staying on too and although he stalled it to stop it running it still lead to total battery discharge. Well, turns out after he checked everything said, dodgy ignition switch, towing electrics plug, it turned out to be the wiring loom to the alternator which had rubbed on the engine, worn through, and shorted causing all the other wires to melt together! He just cut the wires and joined them with a simple connector strip for now whilst he get a new loom. At least he's back on the road.

Might be an idea to mention the location of the short so next time someone has a similar problem, they know where to look. Just a thought. I regularly check google for that sort of information.

According to what he said, looking at the front of the vehicle it was on the right front corner of the engine. Covered in oil etc so it was not conspicuous.
