Series III Restoration - Window Rails

Aug 15, 2003 3 Replies

hi all,

I began to fix a lot of things on my mod88 seriesIII (1979)

Maybe one can help:

I am dismantling the windows frame to replace all the rails (for the slide & fixed glas windows). Most parts are easy to remove, but the bottom rails which are very very rusty are a big problem. I cannot see any screws, due to the rust, and dont know how to get them out. There are some rust "buttons" ?? in the rail - are these screws? It seems that they fix the rail to the frame, but how to remove them???

thanks Norbert

yep, rusty blobs will be the screws,

just force the out anyway you can, and when re-fitting them dont use the same holes,

you could pry them out using a screwdriver.

did this the other week.

When pop to billing i'm sure someone was selling replacememnt rails. These were plastic tho so a really good idea.

Used the series 3 club ones on my truck cab - the dog bollox.

I used 12sl mastic that I stole from my dad. the wet finger trick works well but I tend to keep my wet tool away from the landy window ;-)
