Steering guard for Series III

Can somebody recommend an ally steering guard for a SIII? It's for a friend.

(Strictly speaking it's for a friend's SIII.)

Thanks, David

Hi David,

I have never managed to damage the steering on my SIII despite being rather unkind to it on many occasions. The steering bars on the Series vehicles are far less exposed than the ones on Defenders, Discos and Rangies all of which seem to turn them into bananas at the drop of a hat. So my recommendation would be that unless your friend is into really extreme off roading then spend the money on something more exciting.

and having just bent one on my hybrid at Langdale Quest this weekend, I am now on the look out for a steering guard..... Still the winch and my lump hammer have strightened it out more or less ;-)

I wonder what the tester will say if the new bar does not come in time for next week!!

I see Chris Perfect is selling some monster steering rods.

Managed to get a second hand one for FOC from a friend who works for a local "expedition specialist" It has come froma 90, but seems about the right length. Will be out there tomorrow afternoon after I have tried to find out why the numpty who put the original Disco stereo back in saw fit just to cut the wires off the loom when he removed his own ICE.

By the time I replace the third fuse this evening I was losing my temper a tad, so pulled out the stereo to find each wire had been snipped away from the original multi plug, and then left with bare strands floating all over, with not a sign of insulting tape.....

GRRRRRRRR

interested to note that the Disco I've just bought has a completely different track rod to the 110. On the 110, the steering damper is on the drag link, and it has a plain ordinary track rod. On the Disco, the steering damper is on the track rod, which is in 2 pieces and has a little short bit at one end to adjust the tracking with.

I've just bought one at LRO show. Welded or bolt together from Simmonites and Rebel4x4 for £30. ish
