GS 430 VS LS430/new

Bigger than a breadbox? ;-)

Hard to say - it's subjective. The LS is Lexus' top-of-the-line luxury sedan, the GS is their sports sedan. Accordingly, the LS will be roomier, have more luxury features, and less emphasis on sportiness. The GS is tighter in the back seat and handles better. Even so, the GS is pretty cushy as sports sedans go - it is not nearly as crisp as a BMW 5-series, so both the LS and GS are quite close in both the handling and luxury areas. I think the biggest functional difference is the back seat of the LS. You should drive both and decide which you like.

FYI, the LS is a relatively new update on the design, the GS is scheduled for replacement next spring, so the GS is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth. While both are nice cars, the LS is considered at the top of the heap in its class, while the years have taken their toll on the GS. Unless you're really hung up on owning a Lexus, an Infiniti G35 seems like a better car in many ways for $15K less. I'd either get the G35 if I wanted something sporty, or go all the way with the LS if I wanted the luxury and didn't mind spending $60K.
