16V into a 8V

if not poss is it poss to put a 1.6 top end n my 1.4 or would i need to change the engine management unit aswell?

I suspect the insurance will be terrifying, and will make it cheaper to to sell the 1.4 and buy a 1.6 16V. Might be just about worthwhile if you've got a 1.6 engine knocking around.

Yes its possible to swap to the 1.6 16v engine, however you'll need the matching iB5 gearbox, and afew mounts, the Zetec engine bay wiring loom, the matching ECU and its original transponder keys to de-activate the immobilizer.

I wouldnt really bother with the 1.6 as they're not greatly better than the

1.4 due to very small valves, and go straight to the 1.8 from an Si, Ghia or GTi.

The 16v head will not fit your 8v pte (re bodged cvh) block just like that. Although the zetec is a modded cvh, the oil feeds and drains to mention afew differences require machining to make the marry. As well as the water pump , cambelt, top mount fouling the cam pulleys etc etc etc...
