16v question

The message from Johannes contains these words:

What would happen if there were unrestricted "cars" racing? What would they look like and what technical features would they sport? Presumably the first thing to return would be suction downforce and active wings along with bigger engines.

Probably one manufacturer would dominate the race for one season or until another manufacturer comes up with a unique advantage. Hence you will have Start=Finish, which will be boring to watch. I remember McLaren had a trick with uneven braking to get their cars faster through corners, but it was outlawed.

I beleive it is technically possible to create racecars which would corner sufficiently fast enough that the drivers would lose consciousness due to the G-forces involved...

Yes, but what's that got to do with V8 two stroke engines having less than

16 valves?

Is this deliberate or are you really that stupid?

Opps hit send too quick, I think I'm suffering brain fart because of Xmas forgot about crankcase oil mixing and all that crap, and it's only going to get worse as it's my birthday tomorrow so expext more stupid comments and questions.

the best thing that couldn't be allowed would be active wings the faster you went the less drag they produced, but when you slammed the anchors on, WHAP!!!! air brakes :)

For some obscure (Freudian?) reason I had an image of a panty liner then.

You'd get some odd sponsors, innit.

As 500bhp is enough to send a family car to 200mph, one can see that straight line performance is not where the power goes in a F1 car. Most of the power is is expended on controlling the car around corners on the circuit.

The message from "David Taylor" contains these words:

I lose consciousness watching F1 anyway.

I seem to recall ground effect was banned on F1 cars for that very reason. And that was in teh late 70s/ early 80s!

I thought it was to do with the catastrophic effects mid corner bumps could have if you lost the ground effect over them.

I thought it was because one team (Saudia Leyl;and Williams IIRC)had it perfected and no-one else could catch them.

Thank you Guy for giving a sensible, and correct answer. I am a little dissapointed with the regulars here giving so many stupid answers! I think this was actually the only sensible reply. So ignore all of the other replies!

You didn't get a sense of humour for Christmas then, peter?
