Anybody know of any common failures of these. It's the Bosch transitter & symptoms are no spark & no fuel, the engine turns over happily. It did 400 miles yesterday & today just spins & does nothing.

Tim..
I've got a 94 mondy 2.0si with the Bosch immobiliser system, and had a long term problem with the immobilser. My syptoms where that you could not start the car with the starter when the car was hot. Initially we just lived with it, if you left the car it would start in few minutes, or if you where on a hill you could bump start it. But it did get steadily worse until it would not go at all and you could only bump start it even when cold.
It was a simple repair though. I spent bloody ages trying to find the immobilser unit, which is located at the bottom of the center console, it is rivetted to the surrounding metal work so it has to be drilled out. when the box is out it is a simple matter to split the box on it's joint and seperate the pcb inside. There are a couple of fairly hefty circuits with relays etc, on mine the solder had literally burnt away on the starter circuit around the relay. There were some other dry joints as well, so I just resoldered all the joints that looked dodgy. Put it all back together and it worked perfectly and has done for the last 2 years.
