52 plate zetec focus - wheel change

I have just bought some ripspeed alloys 17" 4 stud (multifitment) on Ebay Do I need to fit spacer on my 52 plate Zetec Focus to put these on or will they be ok ? Are spacers just to stop the back of the alloy rubbing against the inside of the wheelarch ? Are they needed for just the front or rear as well If needed where is the best place to pick these up from ?

Thanks

That'll depend on what the offset is.

The main reason for putting a spacer in is to restore the centre of the tread to where it's supposed to be in relation to the steering geometry. Without knowing what the offset was before and after, you've no way of knowing whether you'll need a spacer and if so, what size.

One way or another, the ride will never be much fun anyway, as skinny tyres like that are sodding uncomfortable and don't grip well on uneven surfaces.

It depends on the offset, stick one on and see how it looks, if you need spacers, BurtonPower stock lots of different sizes along with longer wheel bolts.

I take it you didn't bother checking the offset....

Doesn't matter - they /look/ nice. (for some values of "nice").

But weigh stacks and ruin the brilliance of the handling and ride...

...but ask any owner, no really ask any owner, and they improve everything at least twice over. :)

They are the right offset - I agree with all the sentiments about ride handling etc ! They are not for me they are for someone else ! I was merely just asking the question

Heh. So you lied in your original post then? ;)

S'ah okay, we kick off at anything really.

You may need spacers, you may not, it'll depend on the width of the wheels. Sucking it and seeing is one option. Or try the Focus groups?
