A dead Corsa...

...is a..(insert witticism here). ;-)

My daughter's 52 reg 1.2 Corsa (forget what model) played up yesterday whilst she was driving when all the dials dropped to zero followed by all the panel waning lights coming on. After a second, everything was back to normal.

Today, she was driving and went to indicate and realised that the indicators weren't working so she pulled over and stopped. She turned off the ignition and turned it on again (I think) but this time all the lights were dead and the engine wouldn't turn over.

RAC man came and either pushed on the dashboard or the instrument cluster and everything came back to life. Presumably this is quite a well known fault. What needs doing to prevent a repetition?

From Honest John: "This is a known fault on these Corsas. The multi pin plug on the back of the instrument pod becomes loose. The gauges & warnimg lights become erratic & also if this happens when you try to start the car it can cause a non start condition."

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have a furtle behind the cluster tomorrow.
