A little help. Please

Hello Group,I am a C.C.T.V. engineer from Leeds.I have been asked to install 12v recording equipment and 12v mini cam in a Taxi, What I need help on is, I know nothing about car electrics, how would I get power to this system without discharging the batter or messing the cars brain up when I disconnect the power to connect the system?I have sorced the system from my supplier and it has been made for this purpose.Can anyone help.Kind Regards.Micky.Modern Security Systems.Leeds.
