Afternoon all
I think i might be one step closer to sorting the erratic idling on my MK3 Golf. Lastweek i took the car to three garages in hampshire who diagnosed the problem as either a faulty ECU or a malfunctioning accelerator sensor, but more than likely the latter. I ordered a new sensor from a comany in Petersfield which arrived this morning, but i'm not 100% sure how to set it up once it has been fitted.
Have any of you guys had to install one of these before?

I've only very limited experience of Golfs, but the *one* I worked on had a TPS which wasn't adjustable - unlike most. If it's purely a switch, IIRC it should be closed (obviously) with the throttle closed, but open if you insert an 0.4mm feeler between the throttle lever and stop.
You will need the VAG-COM to initialise the pedal position sensor to the ecu. Without doing so- the engine will just start and idle and no more.
With the vag-com, go to group 01, then 05, then adapt, then align PPS. Its pretty self explanitory if you've used it before.
Bear in mind your problem could be the throttle body unit which tend to go dodgy/faulty more often than the pps. However simply re-aligning it with the ecu often works well- they tend to drift out of spec over time.
