I'd like to add an additional petrol filter before the high pressure pump on my EFI SD1 - I've had problems with the non-return valve inside it blocking and I'd guess the internal tank filter has failed - seems they fall off. The likes of Demon Tweeks sell them but at a pretty high price - well over 50 quid. It needs to be 1/2" in and out to fit in a rubber hose and suitable for low pressure. Anyone think of one used on any car? I went through Halfords stock and plenty of in line types like I need - but all apparently for the high pressure side.

Similar sort of prices to Demon Tweeks. I'm hoping to find a disposable type for under 20 quid.
I've seen inline fuel filters which have an element enclosed in clear plastic used on boats in all sorts of sizes. If that's the sort of thing you're after, a Yacht Chandlers might be the sort of place to start looking?
That's the sort of thing - a one piece in line plastic moulding with an internal not too fine filter. Just to stop half bricks. I've a feeling boat places won't be the cheapest, though. ;-)
Motorbike shop, they'll have loads. Or something like item no.200131556088? There's hundreds of other ones though.

There's no problems finding 1/4" or 3/8" pipe ones - but I need a 1/2" type. It's to filter the inlet to the pump.
Lots of carb VW's used an inline filter under the bonnet that sounds like what you need. It just fits into the fuel hose. Take a look at

tell it you've got an old Golf or Polo with a carb (say a 1985 Polo 1272cc or a non-injected Golf). They're very cheap- 3 or 4 quid IIRC.
They do but all 1/4" or 3/8" connection. The feed to my pump is just gravity and the hose size is 1/2". And I don't want to risk starving the pump as they don't like it.
Demon Tweeks also do an 'In-Line Fuel Filter With Adaptors' which gives you 10mm in/out - can it be clamped down to that? Or use some thin 10mm plastic pipe to boost the connections to 12mm then clamp that...
Alternatively, what's the setup inside the tank, do you know? There are various sock or solid filters to go on the pickup end and filter it all at source...

You can search by dimension, and there's lots of online suppliers for Mann filters. Good quality too.
Run 2 3/8 in parallel?
1/2 inch will give you 122mm2 area, 2x 3/8 inch will give you 142mm2Even if they're =A34 each, =A38 is still cheaper than 50.
