Another tyre question ... again ..

Hi All,MOT time soon on the Rickman Ranger (MII Escort based Suzy jeeplooking kit car) and that has reminded me I never fully resolved thetyre issue.It has run Colway 185/80/14's M+S remoulds since we built it over 18years ago but they are no longer available and I'm (still) having realtrouble finding anything suitable.'Suitable' in this case means ...185/80/14. Whole bag of worms changing wheels etc and I have 5perfectly good 6J - 10 spoke steel rims that were made for it.M + S pattern. About the only thing this car does well considering(apart from being simple to maintain etc) is how well it works ontracks and trails (and snow should we ever see that again). They alsolook 'right' on this vehicle.4 ply. I've tried (from memory) 8 ply 'van' tyres and I didn't evenneed to put air in the rears as they were so stiff. The car is a bitheavier than it's donor but we still use it as a car, it isn't atruck.If we can get all the above we (the missus and I built it), wouldstill spend a reasonable sum on the tyres (~50 quid each) but wouldrather not as this project is fairly low priority at_the_moment.So, the best I can find (in this country) at the moment are these:"WT 60 185 R14 94P RF *remould*, studdable"I don't care that they are remoulds, they have them in stock they area good price and seem to have some of the look we need and it doesn'tmatter how well they will last (within reason) as we don't do manymiles in it.But, I'm unsure how stiff the sidewalls are (as lest it doesn'tmention 8ply or van and I've rung mytyres and they are 'looking intoit' for me) and can't find any other mention of them via Google?A load rating of 94 would suggest they aren't going to be a stiff asthe 100+ rated tyres (and the lowest I've seen in that size is 91) butI'm a bit worried by the RF bit .. does that mean 'reinforced'? :-(Now if I lived elsewhere I believe I would have a better choice .. rang one supposed UK dealer of Gislaved tyres and he said theysimply can't get any of the winter...

True. So what wheels *are* available with the same PCD and the 95mm offset needed(?) for the Ranger then, any idea?

Is 95mm offset really 60mm *closer* to the car than on a Mk2 scrote?

Well, I know that the corner (sidewall / tread) is only a few mm from the spring cup so It couldn't be much closer with that size wheel / tyre that's for sure!

A smaller wheel / tyre combo (like on the Rostyles I have here with

110mm offset) fit ok because they go underneath the cup.

Doh! .. (152/2+12) - 95 = -7 so 7 mm positive offset?

The point though is the interesting dimensions as far as fitting a wheel into the space is really the backspace and the width (well, that's my excuse anyway) ;-)

But it turns out we don't use the interesting measurements Paul . I had been told about this before but when you get old ... :-(

110 mm 'backspace' .. I can't measure the offset accurately as there is a tyre on the rim (and it's dark out there).

Al least the number you quoted earlier make more sense (to me at least ) now Paul.
