any recommendations for screenwash that (a) works down to -15°C or more and is cheap.....

Hi all,

I normally get the halfords 5 litres Screen wash and get two for the price of one, so paying 5 quid for 10 litres, which is fine for the Golf Estate and Passat Saloon. Halfords always seem to have a perpetual BOGOF going on.

In the recent weather, the screen wash has been freezing as its onlt rated down to -4°C.

So I looked around for some screen wash that would not freeze till a lower temperature.

I ended up buying 1 litre bottles from Halfords, (They didn't do the 5 litre version), and its not part of the BOGOF deal. SO I bought five bottles at

4.99 each, so 5 lires cost me 25 quid.......

I've been going through the screen wash more quickly than usual as the cars is catching a lot of muddy spray from the cars in front on motorways.

Does anyone know of where I can buy screen washes that are (a) rated down to

15° or lower, and (b) not at extortionate prices?

Rdegards,

Stephen.

On Thursday ALDI have some at 5L for £2.99, but no spec given. I suppose it depends on the dilution.

Halfords do 2 types, I think the pretty pink stuff is rated to -6 while the blue is -4.

They also do concentrate but that's quite expensive - sort of yellow/ green. It used to have a temp/mix on the label but now just has woolly conditions.

Morrisons petrol station had 2.5L concentrate for =A32 but that was 2 weeks before Xmas.

Poundland? =A31/L.

The problem is more usually the washer jets freezing after having been used, unless you have the luxury of heated jets. Adding methylated spirit at up to 10% dilution is a big help however.

I use poundland eh.. £1 for 2L. Then dilute x2 except when subzero weather.

I've used Car Plan, from Tesco, for years and when diluted with 30% water that goes down to -17 I believe.
