Astra diesel - how do you open the air box?!

Feb 17, 2008 4 Replies

It should be easy, but I can't see how to open the box to remove the air filter! All my previous cars have had simple clips or a couple of bolts, but this has got me stumped. I'm guessing you have to detach the two hoses and then it can be slid apart?

Car is a 1995 Astra 1.7 TD (Isuzu engine). Should probably buy a Haynes manual for it....

Cheers

are you looking at the right place? some vehicles have a sort of chamber with no filter and another with a filter. Some vehicles even have two filters in different locations.

Most vauxhall have clips on the air filter lid

If it's the one I think it is, the two clips are on the side nearest the inner wing. Requires the use of a screwdriver to lever them off, and back on.

Oh yes, I remember. Last one I saw, I ended up putting screws in to hold it together where the hook/lip arrangement had broken off.

I couldn't see any clips there but maybe I didn't look hard enough. They might be out of sight, under the lip that the bonnet rests on. I'll have another look tomorrow.

Thanks,

Andrew
