Mate has a 5 year old Audi A3 IIRC 1.6 petrol. Only done 10,000 miles. Dealer contacted him saying it needed a cambelt change due to age and would cost 800 quid.
Seems a lot to me?

Audi UK website is showing fixed-price servicing for all "2 litres and under" models as £449 for the cambelt change and £549 including a new waterpump.
At £800 the dealer is either trying it on or there's more to the story.

Audi dealer. £100+/hour before VAT.
Autodata gives 2.2 hours for a cambelt change on a 2003-2001 A3 1.6 petrol, engine code BSE. The biggest service is only timed at 1.3 hours, so even if that is included, 800UKP is outrageous.

Thanks guys - info passed on.
It's about the same as my lease company was charged for a Passat TDI cambelt a number of years ago.
Yeah, halve that for an indy garage.
