When removing a car battery (Rover 416i R reg), do you remove the positive or negative first?

Hegative.
Negative (or earth). Then if the spanner slips and shorts to ground there is no big bang.
The message from "Simon Atkinson" contains these words:
And earth last when refitting it for the same reasons.
Where's the fun in that?
