BF Goodrich Tyres

Worth it if you can afford it (I drive a land rover and BF goodrich tyres are regarded as among the best). I've known them do 100,000 miles and that's with an 50/50 off road tread. They are also as good as anything else in terms of grip on wet roads, dry roads, and various off-road conditions (with the right tyre). In my opinion.

I don't know if the following is of much help as I believe that each vehicle will have a make and type of tyre that is best for its type of use. What is good for one specific vehicle (and its usage pattern) will not necessarily be good for others.

I have BF Goodrich 50/50 tyres on an Isuzu Trooper. I live on the side of a mountain in Wales and have a small farm. My vehicle needs good grip on unmade tracks, open mountainside, muddy fields, etc, but also needs a good performance on tarmac (nearest shops are over 7 miles away). These tyres have covered about 25,000 miles and are worn to around 40% of the original tyre depth. I have been driving for over 40 years and I have never known tyres to last as well yet, until 5 years ago, I lived in a town. My tyres have never before had the rugged life that they now have. I am more than happy with their handling properties and they are quiet at motorway speeds. For *my* vehicle and *my* use they are excellent and I will replace them with BF Goodrich when they finally need replacing.

I used BFGs on my Mondeo (196 60/15's) and never had any problems with them= .

They were cheaper than the OEM Goodyear (35 cf 65 a corner), wore _much_=20 better (18k on the front compared to 10-12 from the Goodyear).

Not noticably any worse in the wet.

I got some Firestone tyres which were billed as "Eco" tyres (Eco friendly,= =20 not Budget!), and they were a pile of crap in the wet.

Thanks. I live in rural Worcestershire and my 25,000 plus miles pa are made up of fast motorway and slippery muddy lanes. Though it's a car and not a 4x4 the experience BFG have with 4x4 tyres must be encouraging.

You could always buy a 4x4 to go with the tyres. :-)

We may well replace my wife's old ZX with a diesel Vitara or RAV4 next year, but with my mileage I don't think I could cope with losing my current 55mpg.

Point made. My (diesel) Trooper does around 35mpg on motorways which comes down to 25mpg on local roads. A RAV4 may do a little better.
