You would need to provide much more information in order to get an informed opinion.

Cover for only one car/one driver? Family cover? Cover for any vehicle you are travelling in? Cover whilst at home? Cover for a hire vehicle or accommodation if quick repair not available? Or just a "get the car home" service?

Broadly, AA/RAC cover you in any car, even as a passenger; Green Flag et al cover the listed car only.

Having just renewed my subscription the Britannia Rescue who have three levels of cover (for the car) ranging from £59.15 to £99.95 with an extra £29.50 payable for personal cover for myself and SWMBO.

Your question is as useful as asking who does the best deal on electricity, without at least a guess as to how much you use.

The *best* service is the one that has a patrol or nominated garage nearest to where you break down, when you break down. Without knowing that....

I'm with Green Flag, but only because the bank provide membership as part of the account fees. Otherwise, I've not used a breakdown service in the last 35 years, as I carry a toolkit, some spares and the ability to fit them. If I can't fix it, I call the local police and ask them who their nominated garage is. So far, I'm at least a grand ahead by not having to pay membership fees. The most expensive breakdown I've had cost a towing fee off the motorway, a trip by train home for the dog and me, and trailer hire and fuel for a day to go and fetch the broken down car. About 4 years membership fees for the AA. If I'd known the cost of repairing the car would be so high (The cylinder head had melted after the water pump drive belt snapped), I'd have just scrapped the car there and then, saving the trailer cost. As it was, I scrapped it after I got it home and costed the parts.
