Car spares ?

Does anyone know where I can buy a rear brake fitting kit for a Ford Ka online ? I am getting a squeak from the rear brake area (which is sending me mad) every time I release the foot brake or hand brake, it's not brake squeal from the shoes as it happens when stationary too, just wondering if anyone else thinks it may be the springs etc that hold the shoes in place in the brake drum.

I have done several searches for fitting kits and seem to get nowhere.

Thanks for any pointers

If the noise occurs when the brake is released (you normally hear this when stationary) then probably all that is wrong is that the area on the back plate that the shoe slides against is dry , the cure is to remove the drum, raise the shoe from the back plate and insert a small amount of copper grease using the tip of a screwdriver. This is the sort of work that should be performed on a good routine service.

Thanks for the advice, I have a tub of copper grease in the garage and a day of tommorow, I did wonder about using grease on the brakes but was a little concerned.

Thanks again

You only need the tiniest amount of grease on each point. The shoes contact and rub on the backplate at three points, the noisiest one is the one that moves the furthest, this is directly next to the wheel cylinder, another at the middle of the shoe and the last is almost not worth doing, adjacent to the fixed pivot at the bottom ( very little movement at this point)
