Changing Mazda battery

Have just purchased a1999 Mazda 626 2lt GSi Estate and the battery seems to be the original and is needing to be changed. Is there anything I need to know about , eg: re-setting immobiliser maybe or is it just a straight swap over ? Thanks Morris

It is preferable to keep the system powered up during the change using an external power supply or even just jump leads (only light duty needed) It is tricky to do this using only two batteries though, it is far easier if you have a third battery or another car with jump leads, or even buy yourself a memory saver gadget from a car shop. Most battery suppliers will fit the battery using a back up power unit for a nominal charge .
