If there's not an axle stand or an effing big bit of wood holding the car up, I'm not sticking my head under it... Mechanical jacks aren't as likely to pack up like a trolley jack can, but they never have as wide a base as an axle stand.

Hey! I resemble that remark...

As a teenager I was helping the bloke next door working on his Transit. Huge trolley jack one end, axle stands the other. He asked me to go under it and support the gearbox while he did something, as his jack was in use.

He didn't tell me he was going to drop it off and wanted me to wriggle out with the damn thing on my chest. Quite heavy, they are.

Would that be like the 2nd picture here, or the 9th?
